Eric Taylor is a fictional character in the NBC drama television series Friday Night Lights played by Kyle Chandler. He is introduced as the head coach of the Dillon High School football team, the Dillon Panthers. In the final episode of the third season, while Coach Taylor and Buddy Garrity were making a visit to a possible recruit who just moved into town, the coach learns of a plot to have him replaced as head coach of the Dillon Panthers. Taylor is offered the job of coaching the Lions football team at East Dillon High School, which is reopening after years of being closed.
